This project comprised the construction and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) fit-out of two Crossrail intermediate shafts at Mile End Park and Eleanor Street, including all associated Enabling Works.
These intermediate shafts were required to provide intervention access to the Crossrail running tunnels, for firefighting and general maintenance and in the case of the Eleanor Street shaft, to accommodate the fans for the tunnel ventilation and drainage system.
This entailed designing the temporary electrical power required by the construction team during the multiple stages of the project. VVB undertook the procurement, installation, maintenance, required relocation, and removal of the systems at the end of the project.
VVB provided management, engineering, supervision, and skilled labour for Crossrail.
VVB’s scope included:
- Temporary electrical designs
- Procurement of materials
- Site set up
- Ongoing maintenance of installed services
- Management of installation and maintenance of HV power and temporary substations
- Relocation of electrical services to accommodate construction teams
- Discrete permanent works
- Demobilisation of site temporary services
