Proposal Manager (J42)

Full Time- Permanent (London or Chelmsford)

£45,000 – £65,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for a Proposal Manager to join our Work Winning team. This role has flexibility to be predominantly based from either our Chelmsford or London. This is a key role within the team responsible for the bid writing and documentation and collating and creating supporting collateral for tenders and bids.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support production of proposal documentation including, case studies and company CVs
  • Compile information and complete forms and documents required to submit a bid in line with VVB brand
  • Work with the bid manager to develop marketing material to support work-winning
  • PQQ management, from expression of interest to completion and submission
  • Prepare accurate information of financial, commercial and technical questions
  • Interact and collaborate with the Work Winning team, when collating the full bid for submission

What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge of bid and proposal best practices and methodologies
  • Knowledge of the M&E and infrastructure industries
  • HND/HNC, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise at all levels
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • 5 years’ experience within a similar position
  • Experience within a Mechanical and Electrical contractor

Principal Electrical Engineer (J18)

Full-Time, Permanent (London based with travel to sites around the UK)

£55,000 to £85,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for Principal Electrical Engineer responsible for the deployment and organisation of the Electrical Engineers. You will advise the business on Engineering legislation and compliance as well as managing all aspects of electrical works.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage VVB’s safe system of works and Electrical rules in-line with current legislation
  • Assume the role of lead Engineer in the execution of specific tasks
  • Be the technical lead representative at project and progress meetings within clients
  • Work in a collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders on lessons learnt and moving forward
  • Work in conjunction with the bid team, to review proposals and scope documents for tenders
  • Review and verify design documentation up to 33KV level
  • Ensure design risk assessment process is complaint with legal and construction parameters
  • Ensure risks, safety, health, environmental and commercial are designed in line with principles
  • Provide engineering solutions to project problems, to satisfy clients expectations, project restrictions and budget constraints
  • Undertake site visits, report and advise on technical, environmental and H&S issues
  • Liaise with the installation teams to ensure design suitability, work methodologies and provide solutions on installation problems
  • Ensure appropriate certifications and reports are issues for completed electrical works
  • Support procurement with reviewing the electrical supply chain
  • Work with procurement to determine product suitability with manufacturers
  • Attend FAT and SAT meetings
  • Mentor Engineering Graduates and Apprentices and support HR with the development of these programmes
  • Review and develop electrical personnel qualifications and competencies

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 10 years experience within Electrical Engineering
  • Previous experience within Low to Medium Voltage Electrical Equipment
  • Previous experience within a M&E contractor and/or design house
  • Previously worked within the infrastructure environment
  • HNC and/or HND
  • Engineering Council Registration with preference as Chartered
  • Registered member of either CIBSE or IET or other recognised Engineering Council institutions
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Full UK drivers license
  • Proven track record of delivering Mechanical/ Electrical, process design projects within budget and to programme in a design and built environment
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical installations legislations and standards, BIM and design modelling standards
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of SHE requirements, relating to the Electricity at Work Act
  • Ability to instruct and lead teams in producing design deliverables to a high standard
  • Collaborative approach
  • Adept in MS Office packages, including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Flexible approach, with the willing to travel nationally and work unsociable hours
  • Establish good working relationships at all levels

 

Project Cost Controller (J12)

Full-time, Permanent, (Rainham – with occasional travel to sites)

£45,000 to £50,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting a Project Cost Controller working within the Commercial Finance department. Reporting into the Commercial Financial Controller and working alongside the Project team, you will be responsible for managing the financial performance of individual projects. You will support Management by providing reports and producing accurate forecasting and cash flow data.

The position:

  • Work with the Project teams to ensure the understanding of the specifics of the project plans and contract
  • Ensure all necessary interfaces and processes are adhered to, including the application procedure, and provide all supporting calculations and documentation to the client
  • Manage workload effectively to meet the business and finance deadlines set
  • Control and challenge procurement and/or sub-contractor costs and investigate variances between forecasted and budgeted costs.
  • Liaise with the Client/PM to resolve overdue applications, certifications and payments
  • Liaise with the Finance function to provide information to support journal entries, to capture late costs, provisions and revenue recognition
  • Communicate with the Project teams, ensuring all reports are accurately reflecting the operational and financial status of the projects
  • Collate and compile project financial reports and monthly and weekly cashflow forecast information to present to the Finance and Management teams

What we’re looking for:

  • CIMA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • GCSE level educated, with A-C grades in English and Maths
  • Three to five years finance experience
  • Previous experience in a similar job role
  • Adept in using MS Office programmes including Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Knowledge of financial processes including forecasting and cash flow
  • Comfortable working in a site-based environment
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills with the ability to manage deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business and non-financial personnel
  • Excellent attention to detail

Workforce Planning Coordinator (J25)

Full-Time, Permanent (Chelmsford/London)

£30,000 – £40,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity for a Workforce Planning Coordinator has arisen to support the operational team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for coordinating and allocating predominantly our blue collar workforce for projects. Working in-conjunction with internal teams such as, HR, Operations and Planning, as well as full optimisation of all operational labour.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure labour is all allocated in line with budgets and targets
  • Work in conjunction with planners to accurately allocate labour for current and future projects
  • Educate project teams on labour requirements, advise and guide when needed
  • Utilise historical data and forecasts to develop accurate headcount models
  • Liaise with the planning team and PMs to resolve problems with labour allocation
  • Liaise with the Resourcing and Emerging Talent Manager on potential gaps in labour for projects and agency worker movements
  • Liaise with the HR Advisor on all internal operational labour movements, highlighting any potential employment issues, concerns and challenges
  • Support the projects to complete relevant paperwork for labour movements
  • Participate in PHR (Project Health Review) meetings
  • Design and implement workforce tracking methods
  • Optimise labour allocation and provide labour reports including forecasting
  • Produce robust management information for the Executive Leadership Team, highlighting key trends, movements and statistics on efficiencies and productivity of labour

What we’re looking for:

  • Working knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera
  • Advanced use of MS Office

Bid Manager (J37)

VVB Engineering provide complete solutions for mechanical and electrical systems; with expertise ranging across the rail, road, airport, power and utilities and construction sectors. We specialise in the construction, maintenance and refurbishment of road and rail tunnels and we are currently recruiting a Bid Manager, based from our Chelmsford office.

This is a key role within the Work Winning department, and supports the business by planning and managing the bid processes. You will be accountable for the development and submission of tenders and proposals, within set timeframes and to the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and update tender portals and frameworks
  • Review and interpret client requirements and communicate with the wider work winning team
  • Support with the creation and implementation of Bid matrixes
  • Identify departments internally who will need to provide input to the tender
  • Prepare bid timelines and action plans
  • Participate in proposal, bid and tender reviews
  • Coordinate and ensure the delivery of compliant, professional bids within defined timeframes
  • Seek customer feedback both internally and externally

What we’re looking for:

TBM Electrician (J41)

Full-Time, Permanent (London, SW8)

From £260 to £300 per day

VVB Engineering provide complete solutions for mechanical and electrical systems; with expertise ranging across the rail, road, airport, power and utilities and construction sectors. We specialise in the construction, maintenance and refurbishment of road and rail tunnels and we are currently recruiting a number of TBM and SCL Electricians with tunnelling experience for one of London’s largest ever infrastructure and tunnelling projects.

As a TBM or SCL Electrician you will be working implementing and maintaining the Electrical distribution systems above and below ground.

The position:

  • Carrying out preventative maintenance on tunnelling plant and equipment
  • Carrying out unplanned maintenance and repairs on tunnelling plant and equipment
  • Undertake installation of tunnelling electrical services
  • HV Switching and Testing
  • Provide on-going surface installations as and when required

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience of tunnel boring electrical works/TBM
  • Excellent Health and Safety knowledge
  • ECS Card
  • HV experience
  • JIB Gold Card
  • Ideally a First Aider
  • Ideally hold a Safety Critical Medical
